At Skinny Love Weddings, we’re a team that works remotely. As our business grew we were in a constant state of change, and noticed an emerging pattern of misunderstandings and moments of poor communication that resulted in errors and an overall frustration that affected the whole team. It was clear that something was missing; after some investigation we established that the root of the issue was the way we interacted with each other from disparate locations.
We used the DiSC based behavioural profiling tool from Full Potential as a starting point to get to know ourselves – what motivates us, how we perform under pressure, and how we can be better team players. The profiles gave us a picture of all this, and so much more. By sharing our insights (including the fact that none of us are perfect, all of the time) we have a better understanding of each other and how our different perspectives actually make our unit better.
Even when we’re under pressure and juggling multiple tasks, our team can now get the job done with few errors and misunderstandings. We communicate clearly and understand what the team needs from us as individuals to meet goals. We play to our strengths, which is the stuff that makes work satisfying and engaging. Our business continues to grow, and keeping up is not nearly the struggle it once was!
